DESCRIPTION
GatorSktch Architects was selected by the City of Clermont to historically renovate the original 1914 Cooper Memorial Library located behind the Clermont City Hall building. In addition to design, GatorSktch was responsible for assisting and coordinating the July 2009 relocation of this building to the historical village park, approximately eight city blocks from its original location. A new pier foundation was designed and constructed prior to the building move, for the 600 SF historic structure. GatorSktch Architects performed research to ensure the design and specified materials were historically accurate yet durable, as well as analytical studies of the existing buildings structure and construction. The project will serve the historic village as a period piece, or museum, and will house various displays and original artifacts. Non-historical upgrades were designed such as fire protection and climate control to ensure the preservation of the building contents, as well as structural modifications to bring the building up to current Code regulations.
CONSTRUCTION
Expected to be complete by the end of 2009 with a budget of $200,000.
